Dear Monsieur Poincaré

I send you a proof of your portrait for the Journal herewith. If it satisfies you let me know and I will have the copies printed off at once. It is the best that can be done with the very small photograph which you sent me. If you are not satisfied send me a photograph of yourself as you are now and I will have another portrait made. I was glad to see that M. Picard got the Grand Prize.11endnote: 1 Émile Picard was awarded the Grand prix des sciences mathématiques for his entry in response to the topic announced by the Paris Academy of Science in 1888: To perfect the theory of algebraic equations of two independant variables. I hope his memoir will be published soon. I want very much to see it. Let me know soon about the portrait. As ever,

Yours very sincerely.

Thomas Craig
