22.V. ’00
Newnham Grange–Cambridge
Dear Monsieur Poincaré,
I am sorry to hear that you think you must return to London the same night.11endnote: 1 Poincaré responds to Darwin’s invitation of 16.05.1900 (§ 3-15-9). In case I can induce you to change your mind I may mention that you can be in London by 9.50, leaving here at 8.30.
Trinity College proposes to entertain the recipients of degrees at dinner on that same night. You will no doubt soon receive the invitation.
Pray do not hesitate to change your mind and to stay here, but we shall be sorry not to receive Madame Poincaré also.
Yours very sincerely
G. H. Darwin
