4-36-66. Giovanni Battista Guccia à H. Poincaré
Palerme, 21/6/1912
Mon cher ami,
Je viens de lire dans le “Temps” que M. Lebon a publié une 2ème édition de votre notice.11endnote: 1 Lebon (1912). Je me rappelle à votre bon souvenir pour que vous me l’envoyiez. Merci d’avance.
The Royal Society of London celebrated its 250th anniversary from 15 to 19 July, 1912. Poincaré’s colleagues Picard and Lippmann attended, along with other renowned scientists, but Poincaré was unable to attend, as he had scheduled a prostate operation in Paris on 9 July, the consequences of which were fatal. His death on 17 July was noted in Nature’s report of the anniversary celebration (89, n° 2230, 25 July, 1912, 533–534).
G. B. Guccia
